Main Menu Commands
? --> List commands
This will give you a short list of the available single letter
commands.
A --> Answer questionaire again
This command allows you to change the answers you gave on your
questionaires. You may choose which questionnaire to re-answer.
B --> Browse questionaires
This command allows you to peruse the answers that others gave
to various DLX questionaires. When you are asked for a file number,
enter the number following a person's name. Just the file number
alone is needed, don't use their name too.
C --> Chat Lounge
This command puts you into the Chat Lounge. From the Chat Lounge, you
can initiate interactive chats with other online users. A minimum user
level is required to initiate a chat. The Who command allows you to see
who's online. The T command allows you to request a Chat with the
Sysop.
The (N)oChat command prevents others from initiating chats with you.
The (P)ageOff command is like NoChat, but also suppresses notices that
someone wants to chat with you. You can return to ChatOK status with
the (A)vailable for chats command. The (L)oginsOff command is like
(N)oChat except that you won't see notices of people logging on.
Your ChatOK/NoChat/PageOff status remains in effect permanently until
you change it.
The O command allows you to enter the Open Forum. All callers in the
Open Forum are in one group chat, sometimes known as "CB Mode". In Open
Forum, any line you type is sent to everyone in the forum. There are
special "/" commands that allow you to browse other callers, get a Who
listing, send a private note, or squelch (suppress lines from) another
caller.
The /P command allowed in Open Forum can also be used from:
Main Menu
Chat Lounge menu
Read mail menu
Send mail menu
Pub mail menu
D --> Database
The database subsystem allows you to access information from one or
more databases setup for this system.
E --> Explanation of user levels
This command will print a list and explanation of user levels.
There are different users levels depending on whether you are verified
and/or a subscriber.
F --> Facts about this system
This command lists the computer hardware and software used
by this DLX bulletin board system.
G --> Goodbye
This command allows you to logoff the system with the option of
leaving comments or suggestions to the sysop. You may also
change your mind and go back to the main menu.
L --> Library subsystem
The library contains a collection of ASCII text files and binary
program files. You may download these using the ASCII, XMODEM or
XMODEM-1K protocols. You may wish to contribute to the library by
uploading text or programs.
M --> Matchmaker
This command allows you to match with other people on the system.
You can select the age range, days since last call, minimum times
called, gender and sexual orientation to match to. You start the
search by entering 0 or a carriage return. The person's name, file
number, age, height, weight, gender, sexual orientation, number of
calls, city, state, numbers of messages and number of days since
last call are listed for each person that fits your criteria. Of
course, if you're too selective, no one will fit, so setting fairly
wide parameters is a good idea.
N --> New essay answers
This command allows you to answer or re-answer a series of essay
questions. Your answers can been read by anyone who browses you.
O --> Order entry
This command allows you to place an order.
P --> Public message board
The public message board is where items of general interest
are posted (as opposed to private mail). There are a number
of categories -- please post your message in an appropriate
category.
The public mail system is accessed from a hierarchy of menus.
To return to the previous menu, press a carriage return. If
you keep pressing carriage return, you will eventually get
back to the main menu.
R --> Read private mail
This command allows you to read mail that other users have sent
to you. It is automatically executed when you log on. After
you have read a message, you'll have the option of browsing the
questionaire of the person who sent you the message, replying to
the message, re-reading the message or deleting the message.
Deleted messages can be un-deleted until you logoff.
S --> Send private mail
This command allows you to send mail to other users you.
It will ask for a file number (the same as the browse
command does), and you may then enter your message. You'll be
given the option to edit, list, send, abort or continue while
entering your message. A minimun user level is required to send
mail. There is also a hold function available. If you use the "H"
command the letter will be left in memory so you may go back
and re-read mail or a public message, browse a questionairre
or whatever, and go back to the same spot in the letter and
continue entering the message.
U --> User log display
This command displays the last 200 users in reverse chronological
sequence. An asterisk (*) following the user's name indicates a
new user.
W --> Who's online now
This command show a list of who's on each line right now, and whether
or not they're available for chatting.
X --> Exit and logon again
This command restarts the program at the opening greeting message
and allows people who are sharing your computer to logon without
having to re-dial the system. This will not give you additional time.
BYE or OFF or EXIT at any prompt logs you off the system immediately.
DATE or TIME gives the current date and time.
HELP prints this list.
NEWPASSWORD enables you to change your password.
NEWS prints the sign-on message again.
WRAP enables word wrap (the default)
NOWRAP disables word wrap (for uploading text)
